Premature menopause & reduced oocyte quality
In premature menopause, the woman enters menopause before the age of 45. As a result, the oocyte reserve is low already at a young age. Other women still have a normal cycle but still have a very low oocyte reserve at a younger age. That too can make it more difficult to get pregnant.
Other women suffer from poorer oocyte quality. We know that many oocytes are abnormal to start with. Unfortunately, this increases with age, mainly from 35 onwards. In some women, the percentage of abnormal oocytes is so high that getting pregnant becomes increasingly difficult.
