After studying medicine at the University of Ghent, Dr Valerie Schutyser further specialised in gynaecology and obstetrics under Professor Paul Devroey at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. There, she also did a subspecialisation in reproductive medicine and reproductive surgery, recognised by ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology) and EBCOG (European board and college of Obstetrics and Gynaecology).

For eight years, she worked at the Centre for Reproductive Medicine (CRG) at the UZ Brussel in Jette, where she was head of the clinic in recent years, responsible for reproductive surgery, recurrent implantation failures, focusing on recurrent miscarriages and surrogacy.

Since August 2021, she opted for the fertility centre LIFE – Leuven Institute for Fertility and Embryology – the Reproductive Medicine Unit of the Heilig Hartziekenhuis (URG/LIFE) in Leuven. This allows her to offer her patients more personalised care, with professionalism at its core. She continues to actively pass on her expertise within VVOG’s endoscopy group by giving training courses. In her research, she continues to work on projects on reproductive surgery and patient experience.
