Dr Campo obtained his medical qualification (MD) with magna cum laude in 1983 from the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL), Belgium and obtained his board certification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of Düsseldorf, Germany. He was the initiator and person in charge of the university ART programme and worked in the microsurgery department until 1990. Since 1990, he became clinical director of the Leuven Institute of Fertility and Embryology (LIFE), where he assumed responsibility for the IVF lab and the ambulatory reproductive surgery unit. Since 2007, he also became an advisor for endoscopic surgery and IVF at the ZOL hospital in Genk, Belgium.

Dr Campo is one of the internationally recognised hysteroscopic surgeons with extensive experience in hysteroscopic uterine and, reconstructive surgery as well as hysteroscopic trans-myometrial endometrial exploration. His current research interests focus on reproductive assisted technologies, endoscopic surgery and training and education.
